Youth Leaders

Healthy RC Youth Leaders is an award winning program that started in 2011and gives teens an active meaningful voice and empowers them to represent their peers to take action and promote a healthier community. This unique program provides students with the leadership experience and local government knowledge to work on issues that matter to them. The Youth Leaders work on developing policies and initiatives to promote health living. Youth Leaders meet twice a month during the academic school year at City Hall, in addition to once a month sub-research group meetings. Applicants must be 12-17 (middle or high school) to apply. We encourage students who want to make an impact in their community to apply today!

Application Process

1. Turn in applications including the “Written Evaluation Form”: August 17th by 6 p.m.

2. Applicant interviews: week of Monday August 28- September 13th 

3. Applicants notified if they are selected

If applicant is selected

• Wednesday October 4th (4:15-5:45pm) is the 1st Meeting and Orientation.

• Mandatory sessions throughout the year and will take place twice a month on Wednesdays through the end of May at 10500 Civic Center Drive Rancho Cucamonga | City Hall. During this time Youth Leaders will select their Research Project group and design a strategy to address a community issue related to improving the quality of life. 

(Dates:10/2, 10/23, 11/6, 11/13, 12/4, 12/11, 1/15, 1/29, 2/5, 2/19, 3/5, 3/19, 4/3, 4/17, 5/14, 5/27,5/28.

 Research group projects 30 min check-in meetings will be held monthly between 4:30-6 pm on zoom (10/3, 11/7, 12/5, 1/16, 2/6, 3/6, 4/4, 5/1). 

 Final Research Project Presentations to City Council will take place May 28th, 2025 at Council Chambers.
