$4 Million Funding Request
Total Project Cost: $13.5 Million
The First High Speed Rail in the Nation that will Provide Direct Connections to Air, Bus, and Local Passenger Rail - All In One Place.
The Brightline West High-Speed Rail will provide a seamless connection between Las Vegas, Apple Valley, and the Metrolink station in Rancho Cucamonga, facilitating easy transfer to Metrolink trains for connections across Southern California.
To support this new transportation hub, we are seeking funding for the development of an overflow parking structure at the Brightline West transportation center at Cucamonga Station.
Federal Nexus Reference
The project has a Federal nexus because the funding provided is for purposes authorized by 42 U.S.C. 5305(a)(1) or 23 U.S.C. 137.
Project Timeline
- Brightline West (Las Vegas to Rancho Cucamonga with stops in the High Desert) – Under construction Service anticipated in 2028.
- SBCTA/Omnitrans West Valley Connector (Rancho Cucamonga to Pomona with 21 stations in between) – Under construction, service anticipated in Spring 2026.
Project Benefits:
- Adding 300-350 parking spaces to accommodate demand.
- Enhance station accessibility, allowing easier parking and rail access while reducing environmental impact.
The station is located in the city's disadvantage community and will enhance access to reliable transportation, promote economic mobility, and support equitable development by improving connectivity to jobs, education, and essential services. The project will bolster additional economic activity for the region, with $10 billion in economic impact and $1 billion in tax revenue. Brightline West will create over 35,000 construction jobs and approximately 1,000 permanent jobs, creating pathways for workforce development, training, and access to quality jobs.
Issues in the Region that Warrant a Need for the Project:
The Cucamonga Station will face a parking shortfall of 14% in its opening year and 62% shortfall in the horizon year, equating to a need of approximately 483 spaces and 2,139 spaces. The overflow parking structure is essential to meet the projected demand and ensure the accessibility and success of the Brightline West Station.
