Project Timeline
Federal Fiscal year 2025-2026
Project Benefits:
- Improved health of first responders by eliminating contaminants from CAB.
- Operational savings by reducing fuel and maintenance costs, offering long-term savings for the city.
- Community resilience by improving emergency response in wildfire-prone areas.
Issues in the Region that Warrant a Need for the Project:
The northern boundary of the City consists of a wildland-urban interface between the residential Alta Loma and Etiwanda neighborhoods and the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains, all located in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. This area is particularly vulnerable to the risks of wildfire due to the rugged terrain and high wind events caused by gusting Santa Ana winds, which can cause wildfires to spread rapidly. An electric fire engine dedicated in this area would enhance emergency response capabilities by allowing firefighters to reach wildfire-affected areas more quickly.
