A: Residents who live in a mobile home community or in the Cucamonga neighborhood south of Foothill Blvd. and west of Haven Ave. may be eligible to receive FREE smoke alarm(s).
This program is funded by the Department of Homeland Security's Fire Prevention & Safety Grant. Due to limited funding, smoke alarm installations are limited to mobile home communities and the Cucamonga neighborhood, more neighborhoods may qualify for this program at a later date.
Q: If I live in an apartment complex do I qualify for a free smoke alarm?
A: State law requires smoke alarms for apartments to be provided and maintained by the property owner or property management company.
Q: Do I have to install the smoke alarm myself?
A: No, once you have submitted your application, Rancho Cucamonga Fire District staff will contact you as soon as possible to schedule your smoke alarm installation.
Q: Can I schedule a time to have somebody install my smoke alarm?
A: Yes, once you have submitted your application, Rancho Cucamonga Fire District staff will contact you as soon as possible to schedule your smoke alarm installation.
Q: How soon can I receive the smoke alarm, and have it installed?
A: An estimated time of installation will be provided once Fire District staff have approved your application.
Q: How often are applications reviewed?
A: Fire District staff will review applications weekly and will respond within one week of submittal.
Q: How long does it take to install a smoke alarm?
A: It takes Rancho Cucamonga Fire District personnel or volunteers about 15 minutes to install smoke alarms in your home.
Q: When does the program end?
A: This program is scheduled to end on August 30, 2022.
