Amateur Radio Technician Class & FCC Licensing Exam for All Amateur Radio Levels

Armature Radio Technician Class

This class will teach self-study skills, tips and techniques to help you study and pass the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensing exam to become a Technician (entry) level amateur radio operator.

Students must supply their own textbook ISBN 978-1-62595-082-6. Title: ARRL Ham Radio License Manual 4th Edition. Please note you must have the 4th edition of the book.

  • Dates: The class meets only on Thursday nights, from October 14th, 2021 through November 18th, 2021. The class will not meet on November 11th (Veteran's Day) or November 25th (Thanksgiving Day).
  • Time: from 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m.

This FCC Licensing exam is for all levels of All-level of Amateur Radio Licenses. You can take the exam for Technician, General and Amateur Extra FCC Licensing Exam.

  • Date: Thursday, December 2nd, 2021
  • Time: 6:30PM-9:00PM
  • Cost: The Exam is $15. Please bring $15 to cover the FCC license processing fee. Exact change would be appreciated.

Please bring with you to the exam:

  • Pen - for filling out license application
  • Pencil and eraser - to take the test
  • FRN - Please bring your FRN number. If you already have a license you will find your FRN on the license. If you are not licensed, you would have applied for your FRN on the FCC ULS web site. Please bring the FRN number with you. The FCC will no longer accept your SSN in lieu of the FRN.
  • FCC License - If you currently have an FCC license (Technician or General) please bring a copy of it that you can leave with us. (Those that will be taking the Tech Test in advance of the General Test will not have a license to bring). Remember that you must have successfully completed the Tech to test for the General.
  • Scratch Paper - Is allowed it must be blank when you are provided your test. You may begin working on it when instructed to start the test.
  • Calculator - Calculators are allowed. Devices that can reach outside the classroom or calculators that are programmable are not allowed (examples of devices not allowed to be used as calculators - cell phones and tablets [not kept flat on the table], laptops or programmable calculators)
  • Identification - You will need two forms of ID. One of them must be a photo ID the other could be a credit card, membership card or even a library card.
